Hey there, you beautiful people! I don’t know about where you live, but it’s feeling summer-ish here in Denver. Somehow, summer comes with a feeling of freedom and deep rest. That must be a holdover from childhood where summer a break from school’s routine and rules, and a time of deep rest. Summer was ice cream, hanging out at the pool, staying up as late as I wanted and getting up whenever I wanted.
Today’s post is inspired by that idea, of reprioritizing rest and allowing ourselves some freedom every day, no matter what season it actually is. So, let’s grab our Inspo and then get to the rest.
Today’s Inspiration:
We all need to see the good that is constantly happening in our world, so we have a round-up of inspiring stories from the KarunaNews website. The links take you to a short summary and offer the option to read the entire story. (They aren’t all new, but they are all inspiring and/or uplifting.)

Quote of the Day:
We humans have lost the wisdom of genuinely resting and relaxing. We worry too much. We don't allow our bodies to heal, and we don't allow our minds and hearts to heal.
Thich Nhat Hanh
Today’s Probing Question: How do you offer yourself rest?
Thich Nhat Hanh has it right. We’ve become disconnected from the wisdom that rest is necessary to healthy functioning. Rest is about letting ourselves slow down, nourishing ourselves, and actually enjoying the moments of our lives. Freedom is really allowing some space for emergence in our lives.
Today’s post is my very favorite kind – where I ask the question and it’s up to you to find your own answer.
Take Action:
Carve 10 minutes out of your day and reflect on your relationship with rest. I’ll borrow wisdom from my dear friend and colleague, Tiffany Bucknam, and offer you this question…How do you know when you have deeply rested? Can you think of the last time you really felt like that, and what you had been doing immediately prior to experiencing the feeling?
Maybe jot down a list of at least 10 ways that you LOVE to rest or activities that are innately restful for you.
Pick one and promise yourself you will incorporate that into your weekend. Better yet, do it right now!
Please share a comment about your favorite ways to rest and/or your favorite memories of summer.
Before you go, I thought I’d mention that I have a couple of Qi Gong videos for sale on my website. Maybe you’re not the come-to-a-class type, but you are curious to experience the inner stillness that Qi Gong evokes. If so, head to my website and check out The Five Elements or The Three Treasures videos. I promise you’ll be glad you did.

The baby goats frolicking was my favorite too. I love Yoga Nidra which helps me rest deeply, and listening to calming sounds in nature and humming too help!
